Getting Started

Do I need an account to use HomeMap?

Yes. HomeMap requires you to create a free account so your data can sync securely across your devices and stay protected if you change phones. You can sign up with your email in under a minute.

How do I add my home?

From the home screen, tap My Home → tap the + Add Home button. Enter your home name, address, and any details. Pro subscribers can add multiple homes.

What is included in the Free plan?

Other tabs are visible but locked — upgrade to unlock.

Subscriptions & Billing

What do Premium and Pro include?

Premium ($7.99/month) Premium adds: Tasks, Service Log, Delivery Tracking, Receipts, and 2 collaborators.

Pro ($14.99/month) Pro adds: everything in Premium plus the Decor tab, Stuff Inventory, multiple homes, and up to 5 collaborators (additional collaborators $3.99 each).

Is there a free trial?

Yes — new users who choose the Free plan at signup are offered a 7-day free trial of Pro. You won't be charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel any time before it does. If you choose Premium or Pro at signup, billing starts immediately and the trial is not offered.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple (iOS) or Google (Android). To cancel on iPhone:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone
  2. Tap your name → Subscriptions
  3. Tap HomeMapCancel Subscription

On Android, open the Google Play Store, tap your profile, then Payments & subscriptionsSubscriptions.

You keep access until the end of the current billing period.

How do I restore a purchase after reinstalling?

Open HomeMap → tap any locked feature to open the upgrade screen → tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID (or Google account) used when you originally subscribed.

Features

How does receipt scanning work?

Tap the Receipts tab Premium → tap + Scan. HomeMap uses your device camera to photograph the receipt and extracts the merchant, date, and amount automatically. You can edit any field before saving.

The Receipts tab is protected by Face ID / Touch ID for privacy.

How does the Stuff inventory AI scanner work?

The Stuff tab Pro can identify items in a photo using AI. Tap Scan with AI, take or upload a photo of a room, shelf, or closet, and HomeMap will list the items it sees. You can edit names, pick which items to keep, and assign them to a room before saving.

How do I share my home with family?

Sharing requires a Premium Premium or Pro Pro plan. Open the menu (☰) → Add a Member → enter their email address. They'll receive an invitation to join your home. Premium allows 2 collaborators; Pro allows 5.

Does HomeMap work offline?

Most reading and editing works offline and syncs when your connection returns. Some features that depend on the cloud (AI photo scanning, receipt extraction, sharing) require an internet connection.

What languages does HomeMap support?

HomeMap is available in: English, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Japanese, Russian, and Chinese (Simplified).

Account & Privacy

How do I delete my account?

Open the side menu → scroll to the bottom → tap Delete Account. Confirm in the dialog. This permanently deletes your account and all associated data from our servers. This action cannot be undone.

You can also request deletion at: myhomemap.app/data-deletion

What data does HomeMap collect?

HomeMap collects only what you provide: your name, email address, and the content you create (homes, rooms, items, tasks, notes, receipts, etc.). We do not use third-party advertising SDKs, we do not sell your data, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. Photos you upload are stored encrypted at rest. Read our full Privacy Policy.

Why does HomeMap ask for Face ID / Touch ID?

The Receipts tab is protected by biometric authentication to keep your financial information private. HomeMap only uses Face ID / Touch ID for this local unlock — your biometric data is never sent to our servers.

Troubleshooting

"Save failed: Data too large" when adding items in Stuff

This used to happen when too many large photos were attached at once. The latest version of HomeMap automatically resizes and trims images on save. If you still see this, update to the newest version of the app from the App Store or Google Play.

The app says "Unable to connect to server"

Check your internet connection. If the problem persists, our server may be undergoing brief maintenance. Try again in a few minutes.

I forgot my password

On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot Password? and enter your email. You'll receive a reset link within a few minutes. Check your spam folder if it doesn't arrive.

My data isn't syncing between devices

Make sure you're signed in to the same account on both devices. Pull down on the main screen to refresh. If the issue continues, sign out and sign back in.
